Dearest Found Folks,
Lucky for you all, I was born on Halloween. Black cats, jack-o-lanterns, sweets, and vintage costumes have always been close to my heart. In spooky October tradition, we're bringing back the unique opportunity to sit still for nearly 30-seconds and be captured on tin by Tintype Photographer, Jason Chinchen known as Analogue Tintypes here in town.
He has been taking tintype portraits consistently for a year now in Bend after his debut show at Found last October and we are thrilled for the success that found him as a result. He has been featured in 1859 Oregon’s Magazine, interviewed by Joshua Langlais from A Community Thread (I don’t believe this has been published yet), and has been actively booking events around town with neighboring businesses like Oregrown. We applaud all his effort!

A tintype by definition is a photo process from the mid-1800's made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion. The color blue is not recognized in this process, so tattoos and blue eyes go white and make for a very spooky photo.

NOTE: We had Jason at FOUND for two days last year and we were booked solid a week prior, so if you’ve always wanted a tintype, or you want another, now is your moment. And, know you don’t have to dress up or make it scary plus you’re always welcome to use any props inside the shop that you’d like.
